How does the YouTube Premium family plan work?

The YouTube Premium family plan lets one person, the family manager, add up to five family members to their membership. Each member uses their own account, so watch history, recommendations and downloads stay separate.

This page explains who the plan is for and how to split its cost fairly with NeverSub. Plan rules change and differ by country, so check the plan’s current terms where you live before you invite anyone.

NeverSub is not affiliated with or endorsed by YouTube. YouTube is a trademark of its owner.

Who can be on a YouTube Premium family plan?

People in the family manager’s household. YouTube checks that family members live at the same address, and members who do not can lose access.

Only share a plan whose terms cover the people you add. A family plan suits the people you live with: a partner, parents, children or flatmates in the same home. It is not meant for friends in other cities.

Each member can belong to one family at a time, and Google limits how often someone can switch families, so agree the plan before anyone moves over.

How do family members join?

The family manager invites each member’s own account. Nobody shares a password, and everyone keeps their own library and playlists.

On NeverSub the family manager is the host. Once the host confirms a member’s payment, the room shows the email address to invite, and the host sends the family invite from their account.

Write how it works in “What’s included”, for example “your own account on the family plan”, so members know before they take a seat.

How do you split the cost of YouTube Premium family?

Divide the plan price by the seats in use, the host’s included. NeverSub works out whole shares that add back up to the price.

The share is shown on the room before anyone joins, and NeverSub adds no fee on top. Members pay the host directly with whatever they already use, such as UPI, then tap “I’ve paid”. The host confirms and the seat is active for the month.

NeverSub never holds money. It keeps the record of who has paid, so the host does not have to chase anyone, and a reminder is one tap away when a share is due.

What happens when someone leaves?

They leave the room or the host removes them, and the family manager takes them off the plan in their account settings.

Their history and playlists stay with their own account. The seat opens again in the room, and the host can send the invite link to someone else in the household.
